Originally known as Stackpole Moore Tryon, the Hartford institution first opened its doors in 1906. In 2007 Ron and Jody Morneault – owners of Hartford’s Tuesday’s – purchased the store and renamed it Stackpole Moore Tryon Tuesday’s. The Morneault’s have successfully operated a retail store for men and women for 45 years in Downtown Hartford.
“We’re truly positioning our store for the 21st century” said Ron Morneault. “While we are eager to meet the needs of todays consumer we are also committed to upholding the high standards established by Stackpole Moore Tryon over one hundred years ago.” The store is doing just that, as it was voted the #1 Women’s Clothing Boutique by Connecticut Magazine and Best Men’s Store by Hartford Magazine in 2016.
Ron and Jody Morneault, as well as their staff, strive to understand each customers lifestyle and needs. The store continues to be known for its impeccable personalized service. Aside from featuring designer clothing lines that are made in the U.S.A. and Europe, the store also hosts several custom made clothing options as well as formalwear for both men and women. Morneault’s Stackpole Moore Tryon prides itself on the fit of their customer’s clothes and continues to offer in house fitting and tailoring services.
The Morneault’s see the store as an integral part of the Hartford community. They have been actively involved in the area for 45 years, from charitable and volunteer work to supporting the local downtown area.
I have been a student of menswear since 1960. I began my career as a stock boy on Hartford’s Asylum Street in 1961. I graduated Bryant College in 1967. Three short years later I started my first specialty store, Tuesday’s for Men. 37 years later, with my wife Jody, I purchased the Hartford institution, Stackpole Moore Tryon. Here we are in the 21st Century and Stackpole is reinventing every day to help men and women interested in quality clothing to find their personal style.
I have been in the clothing business for over 30 years, 25 of them with my partner and husband Ron. I’m the buyer for the ladies department so I spend a great deal of time curating our assortment for our fabulous customers. When I’m not in the market, don’t be surprised if you find me in our dressing rooms working with our clientele, making sure they leave happy and looking their best. When I’m not working, I volunteer with several local charitable organizations in downtown Hartford.
My love for Italian cooking takes second place to my passion for taking the ladies “out of the box!”, bringing a customer something she doesn’t anticipate but ends up loving and wearing out of the store. I have a degree in Education, minor in child psychology,. I began in “retail” on a whim in 1988, to help someone out…Time flies when you are having fun! It is so gratifying to hear about the compliments received from outfits we put together.
I have always had a love for fashion, having worked primarily in menswear for most of my career. I now have the ideal job because at Stackpole I can combine my love for men’s and women’s wear. There is nothing more gratifying than playing a role in a client leaving the store looking her best and feeling great.
I enjoy what I do. The clothing business is fun for me. My favorite customer is the man that loves clothes and who is comfortable with his own style, even if he doesn’t know he is being stylish.
I am a recent graduate from FIT and have worked in many different aspects of retail.Stackpole Tuesday’s has been the best experience up to date. I love having “one on one” time with each client and getting to really know each person. I enjoy learning about their own unique sense of style. When I am not with clients, I also very much enjoy merchandising the store windows and the inner displays. Fashion truly is my passion.
